ICMG APPROVED TRAINING SCHOOLS

As you can see below, we have schools around the UK that we recommend and that are training groomers to groom and qualify the ICMG way. Following the curriculum that IPG set, is giving the trainee an ideal start to their career. It covers the care, understanding, and quality treatment of their pet, that a client should expect from their groomer.

ICMG schools are not owned by ICMG but are approved by us because our guidelines are followed and adhered to by the fully qualified ICMG instructors. What qualifies someone to teach you? We believe that you need a teacher that not only has the knowledge to impart but also the enthusiasm and time to make your learning experience fulfilling, thus allowing you to enter your career as a groomer with confidence. All administration work is done at our head office, thus giving your instructor the time to spend with you the whole teaching day.

Practical hands on, we believe, is the way to go, this is the way that most people learn a practical skill. Most of the theory part of your course can be learned at home in your free time as the books that are written specifically for the ICMG qualifications, are provided at the start of your course. There will be the occasional ‘classroom’ day where your tutor goes through theory and will discuss any queries that you may have.

All the hard work and study culminate in you sitting your final exam (although you can sit mock exams beforehand) with an external verifier, as we do not think it ethical to ask your instructor to certify you. For the most part, this is now done on Zoom. So, you will groom your dog in the school (using a school dog) being watched and assessed by a fully qualified ICMG certifier. You will get your result on the day. The written (theory) is done on-line and results are given instantly by the program.

Most of our schools can offer some experience days too. This consists of working as a staff member to get some real-life experience in running a business.
